Introducing Moore Moss Rutter, winners of the Radio 2 Young Folk Award and one of the performing artists in our upcoming Concert in Three Halves. We spoke to their violinist Tom Moore to get the pre-concert lowdown.
What do you enjoy about performing with Moore Moss Rutter?
It’s quite an upbeat set so jumping about a bit at festivals is always fun. I think the best part musically is the way we can kind of predict each other’s playing – there’s a fair amount of improv so when we feel like it’s going somewhere new and it works out, its a good feeling. When it doesn’t we tend to laugh.
Is there a particular moment in your set we should be listening out for?
Not really, different moments speak to different people. That said, we often do a minuscule reference to a particularly cheesy pop song for our own amusement but I doubt anyone will clock it!
If you could speak to one musician, who would it be and what would you ask them?
Purcell. Or Rou from Enter Shikari. Both ideally, I’d ask them to make a concept album together.
