Encore Supports the Bank of the Future

Encore loves Monzo

Back in February, we released Encore Pay – a revolutionary new payment system that guarantees musicians receive their fees promptly after a performance.

Encore Pay allows musicians to receive online deposits to secure their performances with customers, and generates all invoices automatically.

During the design and build of Encore Pay, we spent some time gathering imagery for the biggest banks in the UK to use on the musician dashboard.

We’re all big fans of Monzo Bank at Encore (nearly everyone has a card), so we were quick to add support for Monzo to Encore Pay.

Monzo operate in a transparent and open way, and we have a lot of respect for how they do business.

Sadly, Monzo were only operating pre-paid cards at the time. These pre-paid cards aren’t associated with a bank account, so they can’t accept incoming transfers and therefore can’t be used to accept payments through Encore pay…

Fast forward to last night! I was lucky to be invited to a Monzo Current Account preview event, and received one of the first 1,000 Monzo current accounts and debit cards in existence.

Naturally, the first thing I did this morning was associate my Monzo account with Encore Pay.

Setup was so easy that I finished it during the first five minutes of my commute this morning!
I’ve been using Encore Pay to handle payment for my own bookings, including bookings where I already knew the person booking me and they didn’t find me through Encore (this feature is in beta).

Using Encore Pay means:

  1. They can pay me using a card in less than 30 seconds
  2. I am guaranteed payment straight after the gig
  3. I get all my invoices done for me
  4. Putting my tax return together at the end of the year will be simple, as I can see all my earnings on my Encore dashboard

I’m delighted to be the first Encore member to ever use Monzo with Encore Pay, and I look forward to seeing many more Encore members make the switch to Monzo.
