Welcome to the first Encore Backstage blog post! In these bite-size posts, we’ll be announcing our latest exciting developments across the app and website. Be sure to check back regularly to keep up-to-date on the changes we’re making and how they affect you.
First up is a very cool but slightly concealed little widget we rolled out earlier this week: the styles setting.
One of the the most common pieces of feedback we receive about our job alerts (besides “wow, these are great”) is that they match against the tags on your profile – piano, composer, etc. – but not against the genres of music you’re interested in playing. Imagine you could customise your alerts so you were only notified about Jazz Piano gigs in your area, rather than absolutely anything related to pianos or keys…
So here’s our answer:
Simply un-tick any styles you don’t want to hear about work for, and you’re all set. We have plans to integrate these tags into Encore profiles in the future, to help anyone browsing your page get a better understanding of you as a musician, but for now, these styles are not listed publicly.
To set your styles, simply head to your settings page: joinencore.com/dashboard/settings
P.S. You might be wondering why there are only 6 styles to choose from! We had to keep the number as low as possible to ensure that all the work going through Encore can be categorised easily, and to avoid anyone missing out on a gig due to confusion around numerous similar sub-genres. We think everyone will be able to pick a set of styles which gives a good indication of their broad interests, but if you disagree then get in touch!
